I put my reasoning in the comments to the earlier posting.<br /><br />Cousin SuzanneSuzanne Keenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14764617665667576034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439150784694530343.post-11277031400578882362016-08-11T19:47:16.356-04:002016-08-11T19:47:16.356-04:00John, thanks for your analysis. I'm not sure if that's a mole on her face in the second photo - I have other photos of her that don't have the mole, making me wonder if it's a mark on the photograph. Her sister is seven years younger and has a rounder face and I haven't found other possible cousins this could be. This may have to remain as a possible image of Eliza May Wells.Elizabeth Handlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05529452862369140506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439150784694530343.post-19829861244217060232016-08-11T15:09:51.680-04:002016-08-11T15:09:51.680-04:00If the 1857 print of Eliza May Wells is reliably w...If the 1857 print of Eliza May Wells is reliably when she was about 18 years old, then your analysis of the daguerreotype being narrowed to 1855 - 1856 means the young women in the two photos who be of about the same age (18 years) IF they are both of Eliza May Wells. To me there are a couple of indicators to argue they might be the same young woman -- hair style and prominent eyebrows for example. But, the daguerreotype photo seems to show a young woman with slightly fuller lips, and longer, narrower face. The different angles of the photos make nose comparison difficult. However, the one big feature to me is what appears to be a prominent mole immediately to the right of her right nostril. IF these photos are taken of the same young woman within a year or two of one another, then one would expect the mole to be shown clearly in both photos. There are serious similarities between the two women that would argue for some relationship. Did Eliza May perhaps have a sister or first cousin of roughly similar age?Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14139639019457759712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439150784694530343.post-18256464675654298202016-08-10T12:02:27.774-04:002016-08-10T12:02:27.774-04:00Yes it does look like a relative, but the labeled ...Yes it does look like a relative, but the labeled photo I found of her younger sister (born 1846) shows a woman with a much rounder face; this isn't her younger sister Louisa.<br /><br />Thanks for the comment.Elizabeth Handlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05529452862369140506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439150784694530343.post-52820885086156952782016-08-10T12:00:08.389-04:002016-08-10T12:00:08.389-04:00Thanks for your input - I'm now exploring othe...Thanks for your input - I'm now exploring other photos I have from this family. I think that the nose is different. Based on other photos, I think it's a spot on the second photo (unless other photos I have of her were touched up in some way).Elizabeth Handlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05529452862369140506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439150784694530343.post-60737250998055450232016-08-10T11:35:35.065-04:002016-08-10T11:35:35.065-04:00I am not so sure either but definitely a relative....I am not so sure either but definitely a relative.
