Sunday's Obituary ~ Henry Copeland 1912

I found the following obituary on MyHeritage for my second great-grandfather, Henry Clay Copeland. It gives a bit more information about him.

CALAIS, Me., Nov. 8 (Special) -
Henry Copeland, one of Calais' best-
known citizens, died Thursday after
an illness of four weeks, due to old
age. Mr. Copeland was born in Nor-
ridgewock, 81 years ago, but came to
Calais when very young and had re-
sided here since. Mr. Copeland was
one of the members of the old-time
Calais lumber firm of Copeland, Duren
& Co., which did business in Calais
until 1875. His father was one of the
pioneer lumber dealers of Calais. Af-
ter leaving the lumber business Mr.
Copeland held a position as customs
inspector at Calais for twenty years,
retiring a few years ago. Mr. Copeland
was a man of ability and was well
liked. He was a life-long member of
the Unitarian church of Calais. Mrs.
Copeland, who survives, was Sarah
Lowell of the prominent Lowell family
of Calais. The children are Professor
Charles Copeland of Harvard College
and dramatic critic, Lowell Copeland
of Chicago; Mrs. William Dunbar of
Cambridge, Mass.
