Wordless Wednesday ~ Thomas Goodwin Wells

I have two copies of this image (which I think is a photograph of a framed drawing) and on the back of each, in different handwriting, is written: "Thomas Goodwin Wells, your great grandfather," which would have been written to my maternal grandfather, Lowell Townsend Copeland.

I descend from Thomas Goodwin Wells as follows:

  1. How awesome, Elizabeth-- by the clothes, I would say this drawing was done in the 1840s or early 1850s. Nice looking gent. :-) Did it just get passed down to you?

  2. He lived 1804-1873, so your suggested timing of the drawing seems likely. I have had this image for years and am posting this in anticipation of completing a Surname Saturday post for my Wells line.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.
