Wordless Wednesday ~ Deacon Samuel Chapin

Here I am with my 8th great-grandfather, Deacon Samuel Chapin. (See my Surname Saturday post for the lineage.) Thanks to my husband for taking the photograph.

This sculpture, The Puritan, is by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, and is in Springfield, Massachusetts.

  1. I love it! I have a similar photo, there in Springfield and at the MFA, and at the MET in NYC (all have copies of Saint-Gauden's "The Puritan"). Good old grandpa Deacon Sam!

  2. Awesome photo Elizabeth-- quite an imposing fellow, if that likeness is accurate!

  3. Sorry I'm late in responding. I love the photo. And Karen is so funny to tease about your likeness to the statue! I think it would be awesome to be near a statue of a relative.

    1. Thanks for your comment. Yes, it was pretty neat to finally visit this statue, which I had known about for quite awhile.
