Step: Dad's Step-Siblings ~ 52 Ancestors #16

My grandmother, Elizabeth Adsit, known as Libby to everyone including her grandchildren, married Edgar Carter Rust on August 12, 1933, after divorcing my grandfather.

They had been married for 29 years when this photo was taken.

Three years after they married, they traveled to Europe with my dad and Edgar's youngest son, Kenneth. I have a couple of photographs from this trip. This one has been enhanced and colorized by MyHeritage.

Edgar Carter Rust was a widower. He married Rosamund Peirce Weeks on June 5, 1909, at Emmanuel Church in Boston. She was born October 9, 1887, in Boston to Andrew G. Weeks and Alice (Taber) Weeks. After their wedding, they lived in Chestnut Hill.

Sadly, Rosamund died on December 19, 1931, just a couple of weeks after her father and predeceasing her mother by nine years.

Edgar and Rosamund had four children, my dad's step-siblings.

Rosamond Rust, was born on March 25, 1910, in Brookline. She married Reginald S. Ward (1902-1988) on June 3, 1934, and they had one child. She died on September 14, 2003. They are buried in Duxbury.

Katherine Rust, was born on May 22, 1912, in Brookline. She married George W. Kuehn (1909-1999) on June 17, 1933, and they had two children. She died on January 21, 2008. They lived in Belmont and I don't know their burial location.

Edgar Carter Rust, Jr., was born on October 19, 1913, in Brookline. He married Charlotte R. Williams (1911-1976) on May 8, 1927, and they had three children. After her death in 1976, he married widow Betty Antrim Taylor (1912-1999). He died on March 3, 1997, and he and both wives are buried in the same cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.

Kenneth Weeks Rust, was born on November 6, 1918, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth A. Fegan (1917-2002) and had two children. He died on November 28, 1975, and they are buried in Hingham.

Edgar Carter Rust died July 3, 1963. Libby (who died in 1983) and Teddy (as he signed this love note to her) are buried in Manchester, Massachusetts, with my dad, and I try to visit their graves every year.

This week's theme is Step.
